Outside of the omakase, the sushi at Musashino is still solid. There's a reason why the Tyson, owner of Uchi, started the earlier part of his culinary career at Musashino. Like the review below me, my mother also had the pleasure to work with both of Tyson and Smokey (Musashino's owner). The sushi rolls are wrapped flawlessly and are creative.

Since 2015, Fukumoto has brought an authentic slice of Japan’s finest culinary delights to East Austin. Chef Kazu Fukumoto started his career as a dishwasher at Austin’s Musashino Sushi Dokoro in 1999, eventually rising through the ranks to become Head Sushi Chef. He later left to study yakitori in Tokyo. Musashino was the first restaurant I visited in Austin, and let me tell you, it was perfect. The weather outside was a bit chilly, but the outdoors portion of the restaurant was well heated and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. From the appetizers to the sushi to the dessert, every individual dish was amazing. Musashino is a great launching point to discover Shoal Creek Greenbelt or University of Texas. Shoal Creek Greenbelt is provided by the Austin Parks Foundation and is a great way to explore the city via bike or foot.
