Mutter Museum: Really Gross Anatomy May 13, 2010 On a recent trip to Philadelphia I had the opportunity to revisit The Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia , to see what’s changed since last exploring this mecca of medical oddities and squirm-inducing equipment in 2004.Dr. Robert Hicks is director of the Mutter Museum and Historical Medical Library at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. “When yellow fever struck, the consequences were absolutely horrific”, says Hicks. “When people began vomiting up their stomach lining, the black vomit, that was the real lethal calling card that it has arrived.”A memorial service is to be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, 19 S. 22d St. Memorial donations may be sent to the college to the preserve the Mutter Museum.
